Masjid al-Haram Welcomes Umrah Performers After 6-Month Hiatus

Masjid al-Haram, the Grand Mosque in Mecca, welcomed the first patch of Umrah performers on Sunday, since the coronavirus lockdown.

This is the first time Saudi authorities open it for Umrah performers since the pandemic lockdown in last March, according to CNN Arabic,

The Saudi Arabia authorities issued 184 thousand Umrah permits for people from the kingdom through the official app "Eatamarna".

The app was launched by the authorities to organize the Umrah process as well as ensure the coronavirus preventive measures.

The authorities confirmed that everything is organized well to ensure the safety of the Umrah performers and to prevent any further spreading of the virus.

The authorities also confirmed that the numbers of Umrah performance will gradually start to increase as the kingdom is recovering from the pandemic.
