Key Drivers and Market Evolution:
2022 Acceleration: The pace of growth intensified as prices jumped from 799 EGP to 1,675 EGP. This 110% growth was driven by global market volatility, the devaluation of the local currency, and a surge in gold demand as a hedging tool.
2023 Peak Volatility: The market witnessed one of its most aggressive rallies, with the 21-karat gram gaining 1,500 EGP (a 90% increase) fueled by escalating inflation rates and heightened investment demand.
2024 Stabilization: Prices continued to rise but at a more tempered pace, recording an 18% growth.
2025 Re-acceleration: The upward momentum returned sharply, adding 2,090 EGP to the price per gram (a 56% increase).
2026 (Q1) Momentum: In just the first three months of 2026, gold maintained its strong momentum, adding 1,460 EGP to its value.
This historic trajectory confirms that over the past five years, gold has solidified its position as one of the most critical hedging and value-preservation tools in Egypt. Supported by exchange rate fluctuations, high inflation, and increased investment appetite, gold has become a primary asset for individuals and institutions seeking to protect purchasing power against economic volatility, despite periodic short-term corrections.
