The police stationed at an inauguration checkpoint in Washington, D.C., arrested on Saturday a man, coming from Virginia, who was seizing an unregistered handgun with more than 500 rounds of ammunition in his car and unauthorized inauguration credential.
The police report released by the Metropolitan Police showed the man, Wesley A. Beeler, had also 17 rounds in the chamber of a Glock semi-automatic pistol.
Beeler presented a legitimate credential, but it did not allow him access to the restricted area he was seeking to enter.
According to Forbes, the FBI is seeking tips relating to threats around the inauguration as strict security measures had been implemented ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.
Other proactive measures have been implemented around the city, including the closure of the majority of the National Mall, various metro stations and several roads, the Hill reported.
