However, Mustafa tells a different tale.
He expressed his surprise by the huge amount of tweets and posts about the incident, according to the UAE newspaper Al Bayan.
“I woke up to find myself trending on Twitter, I never hurt anyone, after reading Al-Fatiha last February, there were no problems between us, and we set a date for the engagement ceremony on August 12, before I postponed it for Eid al-Adha special rituals till September 21,” Mustafa said.
He continued: “After a dispute broke out between Nehal’s family of and mine over the wedding jewelry, I started to feel that this marriage was not meant to be, which was followed by the usual differences about the wedding procedures, starting from differences on the wedding jewelry to her dress that she will wear on the engagement, and so on.”
“On the morning of the engagement, we gone in an argument after she asked me to pay additional money for the hairstylist, which we did not agree to. The argument escalated over the phone, so I decided to inform my parents and her stepfather about my decision to separate from her. This is because she talked to me and my mother improperly before I decided to walk away,” Mustafa added.
“At the end of the ceremony, I noticed that my uncle was leaving with his family. I learned that he was sick, and while I was worried about him, the bride's parents seemed uninterested. They kept asking about the wedding jewelry.”
