The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced today that it has arrested a man who attempted to shoot the deputy head of Russian military intelligence, Colonel General Vladimir Alekseev, and that his suspected accomplice has also been apprehended.
The FSB confirmed to the Russian news agency TASS that the suspect, Lyubomir Korba, was arrested in Dubai and extradited to Russia by Emirati authorities. Another suspected accomplice has fled to Ukraine, and the search for the organizers of the attack is ongoing, according to TASS.
The assassination attempt occurred in an apartment building on the Volkolamskoye Highway northwest of Moscow on Friday. Korba fired several shots at a man in the building before fleeing the scene. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the attempted assassination of the high-ranking Russian general.
