Mohab Mamish, Presidential adviser for the Suez Canal axis projects and seaports said on Friday that the company that owns the stranded container ship will pay all losses resulting from the accident, which blocked the canal since Tuesday.

Mamish expected, during a call-in on TV channel "MBC Masr", that the Suez Canal blockage crisis will be resolved by the end of this week, stressing that such incidents are likely to happen, as 18 thousand ships pass through the canal annually.

The head of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie, announced that the percentage of completion of the dredging works targeted to remove the sand surrounding the front of the Ever Given amounted to about 87%.

He stressed that this accident will not affect the Suez Canal, as it is the most accurate and best shipping route in the world.

" About 11% of the volume of world trade passes through this route per year," he emphasized, describing the Suez Canal as a lifeline for trade.

Mohab Mamish is the former chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and the Commander of the Egyptian Navy from 27 September 2007 until August 2012. He was also a member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces after 2011.

Mamish graduated from the Egyptian Naval Academy in 1969. He served as an anti-submarine specialist in the 1973 War.
