On 19th September, Ambassador Roberto Pace hosted a reception to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the Independence of Malta, with the support of the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, the Malta Tourism Authority and private sponsors.
The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, the Honorary Consuls of Malta in Alexandria and Suez, the business community, as well as members of the Maltese diaspora resident in Egypt. Distinguished guests included H.E. Mr Zahi Hawass, former Minister of State for Antiquities Affairs as well as renowned Egyptian actress Youssra.
This year we were pleased to also have Jasmine Abela perform the national anthems of Egypt and Malta as well as other Maltese folk songs.
Jasmine was accompanied by Norbert Borg on keyboard.
