The celebration highlighted Malaysia’s commitment to unity, inclusivity, and citizen well-being.
In his remarks, Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt reaffirmed Malaysia’s readiness to deepen the strategic partnership with Egypt and elevate the long-standing friendship to new heights.

The country also climbed 11 places to 23rd in the World Competitiveness Index, reflecting its growing appeal as a dynamic and investor-friendly nation.
The Malaysia–Egypt partnership continues to expand across key sectors, including trade, investment, education, energy, culture, and defence, while also embracing emerging fields such as digital economy, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and infrastructure development.
Bilateral trade between the two countries reached nearly USD 1 billion in 2024, marking a 30 percent increase from the previous year. Malaysia’s main exports to Egypt include palm oil, processed food, chemicals, and rubber-based products.
In the automotive sector, the collaboration between PROTON and Ezz Elarab has revitalized Malaysia’s industrial presence in Egypt through the local assembly of PROTON Saga vehicles.
Meanwhile, PETRONAS remains Malaysia’s largest investor in Egypt’s oil and gas industry, exemplifying strong economic ties.
Educational and cultural exchanges also play a vital role in strengthening bilateral relations.
Currently, over 6,000 Malaysian students study in Egypt, while 3,000 Egyptian students pursue higher education in Malaysia.
These exchanges serve as powerful bridges fostering mutual understanding and people-to-people connections.
The event showcased Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage, offering guests a taste of its diverse cuisine, from nasi lemak and pulut kuning to satay, nona manis, seri muka, and karipap.
Traditional Malaysian attire, including the songket, baju melayu, cheongsam, and sari, was also displayed, reflecting the nation’s harmonious blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures.
On international cooperation, Malaysia reaffirmed its close collaboration with Egypt in global platforms such as the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), particularly in supporting the Palestinian cause and advocating for a Two-State Solution.
The Malaysian government also commended Egypt’s humanitarian efforts at the Rafah border crossing, noting that Malaysia has provided over 110 tonnes of aid worth USD 2.3 million and medical treatment for 127 injured Palestinians since last year.
As Chair of ASEAN 2025, Malaysia will lead the 10-nation bloc under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” focusing on peace, economic resilience, and sustainable growth in a region projected to reach a USD 4.5 trillion market by 2030.
The reception concluded with an invitation for guests to visit Malaysia ahead of the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign, featuring the mascots “Wira and Manja”, the Malayan Sun Bears, symbolizing Malaysia’s warmth, beauty, and diversity that truly make it “Truly Asia.”
