This Sunday, Malaysia's Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will deliver a public lecture at Al-Azhar University, Cairo. The lecture, titled “Stronger Together: A Vision for the Islamic Nation through Technological, Social, and Economic Empowerment,” will take place at 1:00 PM at Al-Azhar Conference Center in Nasr City.

The event will be attended by a high-profile audience, including the Deputy of Al-Azhar, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Al-Dhawini, President of Al-Azhar University, Prof. Dr. Salama Dawood, as well as several Malaysian ministers, business leaders, Malaysian students, and dignitaries from Al-Azhar, along with political and diplomatic representatives.

Al-Azhar University’s hosting of this significant event reflects the strong historical ties with Malaysia, which have been strengthened through various mutual visits.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s last visit to Al-Azhar was in the past year, during which he extended an invitation to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb. In response, Dr. Al-Tayeb visited Malaysia earlier this year as part of his Southeast Asia tour.

Malaysia has also honored him with the “Islamic Personality of the Year” award in 2020, further solidifying the longstanding bonds between the two nations.
