The Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo organized a talk session featuring Ambassador Amr Hamza, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Asian Department.
The event, hosted in Marriott Hotel, was attended by members of the ASEAN diplomatic corps, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, as well as representatives from the business community and media.
During the session, Ambassador Amr Hamza provided an overview of the current evolving situation in the region, highlighting Egypt’s diplomatic efforts to promote de-escalation amid ongoing tensions.
He underscored Egypt’s commitment to maintaining regional stability through sustained dialogue and engagement with all relevant parties.
The session also served as a platform for an exchange of views on advancing ties between Egypt and ASEAN, both at the group level and bilaterally with individual Member States.
Participants highlighted opportunities to further strengthen cooperation across political, economic, and people-to-people exchange. Notably, Malaysia proposed the reviving of direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Cairo, including the possibility for AirAsia to consider flying this route.
