Malaysia aims to make its eastern state of Sabah one of the most attractive holiday destinations for tourists from Vietnam, according to TV BRICS.

As part of this strategy, the country will strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese tourism companies. This was reported by BERNAMA, a partner of TV BRICS.

As noted by Amirah Nadiah Mazlan, Director of Tourism Malaysia in Vietnam, the state is ready to cooperate with the Vietnamese side to develop a long-term strategic tourism programme. Particular attention is expected to be paid to diversifying offerings and improving the overall tourist experience.

According to Mazlan, the development of tourism opens up new opportunities for both countries and meets consumer demand.

Across all BRICS countries, work is under way to strengthen international cooperation in travel and tourism: air connectivity is being improved, new routes and programmes are being developed, and partnership agreements are being concluded.

For example, Ethiopia and China have signed a bilateral agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in tourism. According to ENA, a partner of TV BRICS, the agreement focuses on tourism development, wildlife protection and the promotion of cultural exchange.

Thailand is also considering Indonesia as a partner in the tourism sector. According to Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, the opening of a direct air route between the cities of Surabaya and Bangkok last year contributed to an increase in tourist flows.

Russia, for its part, has announced plans to quadruple the number of tourists from China by 2030. Given the geographical proximity, transport accessibility and the development of infrastructure projects, both countries have accumulated significant potential to expand joint tourism initiatives, according to the website of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
