Malaysia and Singapore have dispatched aircraft to assist the Philippines in its ongoing relief and rescue operations following the devastation caused by tropical storm "Trami."

According to reports from the Philippine Air Force, a Singaporean C-130 cargo plane and a Malaysian EC725 helicopter have arrived at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

These aircraft will facilitate air transport operations carried out by the Armed Forces of the Philippines to deliver humanitarian aid to the most affected regions.

This aid deployment comes in response to a call for assistance from Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, who announced last week that the government had reached out to neighboring countries for support in aerial transport and manpower to bolster local relief efforts.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of the Philippines has reported that over 5.78 million individuals have been affected nationwide by the recent storm, which has triggered severe flooding.

The Bicol region has been identified as the hardest-hit area, followed by Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas. As of this morning, 288 areas across the country remain submerged in floodwaters resulting from the storm.

Earlier today, the Philippine Civil Defense Office reported a grim increase in the death toll from the storm, locally known as "Kristine," now reaching 90 fatalities.

The Philippines is no stranger to severe weather, facing about 20 major storms and typhoons annually, which often lead to extensive damage to homes and infrastructure and result in numerous casualties.
