In a scene reflecting Malaysia’s rising stature in leading the global Islamic movement, His Excellency Sheikh Dr.Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, arrived today at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, heading a high-level delegation from the League to participate in a series of major religious and intellectual events.

Among the dignitaries welcoming him were Senator Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Malaysia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, alongside senior officials, scholars, and public figures.

In the Malaysian capital, the "International Summit of Religious Leaders" will open in partnership with the Malaysian government, along with the third meeting of the "ASEAN Scholars Council", with participation from prominent scholars, thinkers, and policymakers across the Islamic world. Additionally, under the patronage of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia will inaugurate both the "Islamic Fiqh Forum" and the "Global Forum for Tajweed and Quranic Certification"—reflecting the country’s determination to establish itself as a spiritual and scholarly beacon in service of Islam and Muslims.

Malaysia: A Leading Hub for Global Islamic Engagement

Malaysia is distinguished by its long history of cultural and religious diversity, managing to present to the world a unique model of coexistence and openness without compromising its deep Islamic identity. Through policies that balance modernity with values, Malaysia has earned a special standing in the Muslim world and has become a central platform for dialogue between different schools of thought.

Observers note that Kuala Lumpur’s hosting of these summits underscores international recognition of Malaysia’s role in shaping a balanced and moderate Islamic discourse—one that promotes unity while countering extremism.

From Quranic Sponsorship to Producing Memorizers

Malaysia’s remarkable global reputation is closely tied to its dedication to the Holy Quran and its memorizers. Through official, educational, and community institutions, the country has succeeded in strengthening Quran memorization programs and has become a model for integrating modern education with traditional Islamic sciences.

Government statistics show steady growth in the number of young memorizers, male and female alike, supported by hundreds of Quranic schools and institutes overseen by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Year after year, Malaysia ranks among the top participants in international Quran competitions, with its memorizers renowned for their precision, eloquence, and mastery of recitation.

Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim has shown special attention to this field, affirming on multiple occasions that “the bearer of the Quran carries the banner of the nation,” emphasizing that investing in youth Quran memorizers is an investment in the future of Malaysia and the wider Muslim world.

Forums Promoting Moderation and Scholarly Exchange

The wide participation of the Muslim World League in Kuala Lumpur crowns years of cooperation with Malaysian institutions in advancing moderation and tolerance. The "Forum for Quranic Certification" is a landmark event, bringing together senior reciters and accredited scholars to unify standards and safeguard Quranic chains of transmission.

Similarly, the "Islamic Fiqh Forum" provides a scholarly platform to address contemporary issues facing Muslims, striking a balance between modern demands and the steadfast principles of Sharia. Analysts affirm that these developments send a clear message: Malaysia is determined to reinforce its role as a vital bridge between leading Islamic authorities.

Government Support and International Partnerships

The strong official presence at these events reflects direct support from the Malaysian government under Anwar Ibrahim, who has made the “strengthening of Islamic identity” one of the pillars of his political and social agenda.

Minister of Religious Affairs Senator Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar noted that Malaysia’s hosting of such conferences “translates the state’s commitment to serving Islam through a wise approach that combines reverence for sacred texts with awareness of contemporary challenges.”

Global Recognition

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa praised Malaysia’s efforts, describing Kuala Lumpur as “a modern Islamic oasis that bridges authenticity with progress.” He emphasized that Malaysia’s Quran memorization programs have become a source of admiration and inspiration for dozens of countries seeking to benefit from its pioneering integration of formal education with Quranic studies.

Towards a Brighter Future

With these concurrent events, attention turns to Malaysia—not only as a Muslim-majority nation successful in economic and political terms, but also as a hub for the global Quranic movement. As the ranks of Quran memorizers continue to grow year by year, Malaysia strengthens its role in preserving Islamic identity and fostering a new generation that blends religious knowledge with modern skills.

Today, Malaysia stands as more than a country at the far edge of East Asia; it has established itself as both a Quranic and intellectual beacon, and a cornerstone of the diverse and dynamic Islamic world.
