The Malaysian Ministry of Transport announced Wednesday that the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will resume in late December, more than 11 years after it disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
The Boeing 777, carrying 239 people, vanished from radar screens on March 8, 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, in one of aviation's greatest mysteries. Two-thirds of the passengers were Chinese, while the remainder included Malaysians, Indonesians, Australians, Indians, Americans, Dutch, and French.
In a statement, the Malaysian Ministry of Transport said that Ocean Infinity had confirmed it would recommend a 55-day, intermittent search of the seabed, according to the Malaysian newspaper Malay Mail.
The search will focus on areas where the likelihood of finding the aircraft is highest, in accordance with the service agreement signed between the Government of Malaysia and Ocean Infinity on March 25, 2025.
The ministry added: This latest development underscores the Government of Malaysia’s commitment to providing comfort to the families affected by this tragedy.
