Malaysia: More than 56,000 Affected by Floods in 5 States

According to the Malaysian Disaster Management Authority, the number of people affected by floods that swept five states has risen to 56,159, and they are currently staying in temporary evacuation centers.

"In Terengganu, the flood situation did not improve as the number of affected people continued to rise to 37,792 including 10,401 families compared to 26,494 people from 7,369 families last night in 310 evacuation centres," the Secretariat of the Malaysian Committee  stated - according to the Malaysian News Agency, today, Tuesday. .

The agency added: “In Kelantan, the number of flood victims rose to 17,326 people from 4,793 families this morning, compared to 14,359 people from 3,942 families last night.. Eight major rivers exceeded the danger level, ranging from 10.80 meters to 41.57. meter".

 "In Pahang, the Secretariat of the State Disaster Management Committee stated that the number of those affected remained the same at 934 people in 11 shelters... In Johor, the Secretariat reported that the number of flood victims who are still residing in three shelters remains 53... and in Perak, the number of affected people is still 54 from 17 families according to a spokesman for the secretariat in the state.
