The launch of the Gemas-Johor Baru electrified double-track railway line completes the creation of an electric train service network (ETS) connecting the south and north of the country. This national project is a major step forward for the country, with economic, social and transport development continuing in the southern region. This was reported by BERNAMA, a partner of TV BRICS.

This initiative will significantly reduce travel time and contribute to the sustainable development of the region. The project, managed by the Ministry of Transport, covers 11 stations, reports the source. The official launch at Kempas Baru station was led by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, in the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook and the Chief Minister of Johor Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Earlier, under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the concept and plan of "Malaysia Madani" (MADANI) was formed, which is designed to support effective governance and sustainable development. "This initiative reflects the steadfast commitment of the MADANI Government to strengthening a modern, advanced and high-quality public transport system – one that delivers tangible benefits to the rakyat, in line with the aspirations of the 13th Malaysia Plan," emphasised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

According to the source, the project has not only strengthened transport links between the north and south but has also radically modernised the Johor railway corridor. Eleven new stations have been built, each integrating modern comfort with elements of local heritage and state identity.

It is noted that, thanks to the new line, passengers will now travel faster and more efficiently. Travel time between KL Sentral and JB Sentral has been reduced to four hours and 20 minutes, compared to seven hours previously, with trains reaching speeds of up to 140 kilometres per hour.
