Egypt has recorded significant progress in the construction of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, with new engineering milestones completed in the first reactor unit as part of the country's landmark peaceful nuclear program.

On 18 January 2025, engineers successfully installed the metal cantilever truss, the structural component supporting the reactor core catcher in Unit 1. This follows earlier achievements, including the installation of the inner containment vessel of the reactor building, a critical safety structure designed to ensure the secure operation of the nuclear facility.

One of the most notable earlier steps took place on 6 October 2023, when Egypt announced the official start of installing the reactor core catcher in Unit 1. This device is one of the most advanced safety features in modern nuclear plants, designed to contain molten material in the unlikely event of a severe incident.

Alongside on-site progress in Egypt, components of the El-Dabaa reactors continue to be manufactured in Russia. Officials described the moment of fabrication as a historic phase in Egypt’s nuclear journey, emphasizing the importance of documenting every stage of development as the country builds its first nuclear power plant.
