Thailand Airports confirmed that operations at six airports, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Chiang Rai and Phuket, resumed normal work and underwent safety checks following Friday's earthquake that hit the Thai capital.
The company said in a statement issued on Saturday that the aviation infrastructure meets safety standards, stressing the safety of the buildings of those airports.
Friday's Earthquake Was 7.7, One Of The Strongest Earthquakes That Hit The Southeast Asian Nation Over The Last Century.
The quake paralyzed airports and damaged bridges and highways amid a civil war that has devastated the economy and displaced millions, and the military government announced on Saturday that the death toll in Myanmar had risen to 1002.
Estimates of predictive models prepared by the US Geological Survey suggest that the death toll could exceed 10,000 in Myanmar, and that the losses could be greater than the value of the country's gross domestic product.
