Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Mahathir Mohamed has submitted his resignation earlier today Monday to the king amid talks of forming a new coalition to govern the country, according to informed sources.
Malaysian PM’s office spokesman declined to comment.
It’s unclear whether the Malaysian king will accept Mahathir’s resignation. A Malaysian government spokesman said that an official statement will be issued soon.
It is worth mentioning, Mahathir was Malaysia’s prime minister from 1981 to 2003.
He became prime minister again after winning the 2018 general elections against the coalition he once led, Barisan Nasional.
