The US Geological Survey announced on Wednesday that a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of New Zealand.
The authority stated that the quake occurred at a depth of 33 km near the Auckland Islands, a small archipelago located 450 km from New Zealand's South Island.
New Zealand's GeoNet monitoring agency said the quake hit at a depth of 33 kilometers. There was no immediate warning of a tsunami.
There were also no reports of damage on the New Zealand mainland.
