A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck southern Iran on Thursday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences.
The seismic event occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers beneath the surface, the agency reported.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage following the tremor.
Iran sits along major fault lines and is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world, frequently experiencing moderate to strong seismic activity. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as aftershocks remain possible.
