A magnitude 4.73 earthquake struck the Mediterranean coastal city of Rashid in northern Egypt on early Friday, according to the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG).
The seismic event occurred at 7:35:23am local time on March 6, 2026, recorded at a location approximately 395 kilometres north of Rashid, at a depth of 45.22 km, NRIAG added.
There were no immediate reports of people feeling the earthquake, nor have any casualties or property damage been reported so far.
This is the second time in a week that seismic activity has been detected near Egypt.
