Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the citizen is the government’s top priority in the current phase, stressing that presidential directives will guide the cabinet’s work in the coming period.
Chairing the first Cabinet meeting following the recent reshuffle, Madbouly said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had instructed the government to continue work on national security, foreign policy, economic development, production, energy, food security, and human development. He added that each ministry will be required to present clear plans outlining targets, timelines, funding, and performance indicators subject to regular follow-up and evaluation.
Madbouly said the economic group will focus on improving economic conditions, reducing public debt, lowering inflation, and increasing growth and employment rates. He stressed the importance of continuing the state ownership policy, expanding private-sector participation, and supporting industry, agriculture, small enterprises, and tourism.
He said easing the burden on citizens remains central, particularly through price control measures, maintaining strategic commodity reserves, strengthening market oversight, and improving public services, including healthcare and education. Expanding social protection and insurance coverage for the most vulnerable groups will also continue.
The prime minister underlined the need to improve government performance through coordination among ministries, careful spending, field follow-up of projects, and greater engagement with the media and public opinion. He noted that transparent communication and timely responses to public concerns are essential to counter misinformation and maintain trust.
Madbouly also pointed to external and regional challenges affecting Egypt, including tensions in the Middle East and their economic impact, stressing the need for preparedness plans to protect citizens from potential repercussions. He concluded by urging ministers to act swiftly and decisively in addressing public concerns and advancing development efforts.
