Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced the implementation of a partial work-from-home policy across state institutions starting Sunday, April 1, for a duration of one month.

Under the new directive, employees will work remotely one day per week, with the possibility of increasing to two days depending on the policy’s effectiveness.

The decision excludes service and production sectors, which will continue operating as usual.

The announcement was made during a press conference following the Prime Minister’s visit to El Obour Market. Madbouly reassured citizens that essential goods remain available, with strategic reserves ranging from six months to a full year.

He emphasized that the primary focus at this stage is ensuring the availability of goods and maintaining price stability, noting that the current global crisis is unprecedented and affecting countries worldwide.

In addition to the remote work policy, the government has introduced a series of energy-saving measures.

These include slowing down major government projects that consume large amounts of fuel, particularly diesel and gasoline, for at least two months.

Ministries have been instructed to review their ongoing projects accordingly.

Another key measure involves an immediate 30 percent reduction in fuel allocations for all government vehicles as part of broader efforts to rationalize energy consumption during the current period.
