Prime Minister Moustfa Madbouly stressed on Thursday that Egypt's positions remain steadfast in promoting peace and security in the region and preventing ongoing conflicts.
During the weekly press conference following the Cabinet meeting in the New Capital, Madbouly reviewed the international and regional situation and highlighted Egypt's efforts to continue mediation between the United States and Iran, as well as the initiatives undertaken by the political leadership and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard.
"We have been following the activities of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi throughout this week, including his meetings with a number of international institutions in Egypt and phone contacts with several world leaders, foremost among them French President Emmanuel Macron, in addition to the president's speech marking Africa Day," Madbouly said.
These activities reflect the fundamental principles of Egypt's firm position on establishing peace and security in the region, end all ongoing conflicts that negatively affect the world and the region directly, support the development of the African continent and the Agenda 2063 development goals, and reinforce Egypt's strong role through its participation in all African institutions in supporting development-related issues during the current and upcoming periods, he said.
"We are closely monitoring developments regarding the current war. The entire world hopes that a final announcement will be made to bring the war to an end. However, in light of the unjustified attacks against our sisterly states of Kuwait and Bahrain over the past few days, Egypt has strongly condemned these unacceptable attacks and reaffirms its commitment to preserving the stability of all Gulf states and safeguarding their security and stability," he said.
