Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inspected Sunday renovation work at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), which was harmed during a terrorist attack last year.

Repairing the building, which is an affiliate to Cairo University, started immediately after the attack and is due to be completed in June, according to a statement, released by the Cabinet.

Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the process includes two phases: repairing the damage and upgrading the building.

Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the institute increased its bed capacity of the emergency department to 18 beds instead of 12.

The six-floor building includes 262 beds and six operating theaters.

This is done in line with a timetable set by the Arab Contractors Co., which is in charge of the project, Abdel Ghaffar noted.
