Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inspected Sunday renovation work at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), which was harmed during a terrorist attack last year.
Repairing the building, which is an affiliate to Cairo University, started immediately after the attack and is due to be completed in June, according to a statement, released by the Cabinet.

Madbouli directed officials to finalize the institute's southern part as soon as possible.
The premier listened to a detailed explanation about the renovation works, which cost EGP 100 million.

The process is estimated to cost some EGP 100 million while the southern part of the building will cost EGP 320 million to be completed.

Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the process includes two phases: repairing the damage and upgrading the building.
Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the institute increased its bed capacity of the emergency department to 18 beds instead of 12.

The six-floor building includes 262 beds and six operating theaters.
This is done in line with a timetable set by the Arab Contractors Co., which is in charge of the project, Abdel Ghaffar noted.

The premier pressed for intensified action to quickly complete the repair and upgrade process.
