Madbouli Follows up on COP27 Preparations

Egypt's Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouli chaired on Thursday the 8th meeting of the supreme committee tasked with preparing for the 27th edition of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Egypt’s Presidency of the 27th session of the conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) has launched the official logo of the upcoming session of the conference, which will be held next November in Sharm El Sheikh.

The logo highlights the unique cultural identity of Egypt and the African elements of the ancient Egyptian civilization. It also displays the sun, as one of the most important cultural symbols on the African continent, which in turn embraces the Aten sun, which rises over a new horizon.

The sun is the source of life and a sign of hope, one of the deeply-rooted symbol in African civilization, and it’s rising over and setting on the horizons symbolize the cycle of life and renewed hope in a better world. Its rays also symbolize the energy needed for the continuation of life.

Similarly, the sun of Aten, with its rays ending with human hands, expresses the generosity of nature that gives us means for life, welfare, and prosperity. In the middle, a new horizon stretches to express hope for a better future.

The overall design of the logo sends a message of the importance of preserving our planet, as it is time for the international community to show solidarity in face of climate change, which is threatening humanity more than ever before.

In this context, the next session of the conference will focus mainly on implementing the pledges related to confronting climate change, and Africa is at the heart of these efforts.
