French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his hope that 2026 would be a "useful" year, pledging to continue working until the very last second of his mandate.

During his traditional New Year’s Eve address, Macron emphasized that he would keep working "until the last second, striving every day to live up to the mandate you have entrusted to me."

This comes ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, in which he will not be a candidate after serving two terms. He stated that "2026 can and must be a useful year."

Regarding the upcoming presidential elections, Macron vowed to exert all efforts to ensure the 2027 polls are held "free from any foreign interference."
