French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Beirut early Friday for a historic visit to meet Lebanon’s newly elected President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam.
Macron’s plane touched down at Beirut’s airport around 6:45 a.m. local time (4:45 a.m. GMT).
The Élysée Palace had previously announced the visit, emphasizing its significance in fostering bilateral relations and supporting Lebanon's political transition.
This marks the first state visit by a foreign leader since Joseph Aoun assumed the presidency and Nawaf Salam was named Prime Minister.
Macron's visit underscores France’s continued commitment to Lebanon amid its political and economic challenges.
