French President Emmanuel Macron has called for Lebanon to be included in the emerging ceasefire framework between the United States and Iran, stressing that any truce must extend across all areas of confrontation to be credible and sustainable.
Following separate discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, Macron emphasized that full compliance by all parties is essential to ensure the durability of the ceasefire. He warned that limiting the agreement geographically could undermine its effectiveness and long-term stability.
Macron described the acceptance of a ceasefire as a critical step toward de-escalation, expressing confidence that it could pave the way for broader negotiations aimed at securing lasting peace and regional stability in the Middle East.
The French leader also engaged with key regional actors, including officials from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Iraq, as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to consolidate support for a wider truce.
Meanwhile, the White House confirmed that the potential inclusion of Lebanon in the ceasefire discussions remains under consideration.
The proposed truce follows a recent announcement by President Trump of a two-week mutual ceasefire with Iran, after both sides reportedly made progress on several contentious issues.
The agreement is seen as a preliminary step toward more comprehensive negotiations addressing security, sanctions, and regional dynamics.
