French President Emmanuel Macron is set to visit Tel Aviv, where he is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a statement from the Élysée Palace.

Netanyahu had previously announced via the now-defunct social media platform Twitter about the upcoming visit of the French President and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, just before the Élysée statement was released.

Macron's visit comes more than two weeks after a series of attacks by Hamas on Israel, resulting in over 1,400 casualties, including 30 French citizens. Additionally, seven French nationals are still missing, believed to be held hostage by Hamas, as Macron had earlier stated.

The Israeli crisis has prompted visits from other world leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also visited on Saturday.

On Friday, President Macron reiterated his commitment to visiting the Middle East if it leads to "meaningful breakthroughs."

He expressed unwavering support for Israelis and their "right to defend themselves." However, he also called on Israelis to "avoid" civilian casualties in their response to Hamas in Gaza.

On Sunday, President Biden held phone conversations regarding the Hamas-Israel conflict with Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Meloni, and Sunak.
