French President Emmanuel Macron is set to visit Hamburg on October 9th and 10th for informal meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to the Elysée Palace.
A source within the president's delegation has indicated that this will mark an entirely new form of Franco-German communication.
During the visit, Macron will be accompanied by approximately 20 ministers who will tour the Airbus factory in Hamburg.
The source also emphasized that discussions would revolve around the "joint Franco-German path" that could serve the entire European agenda, fostering cooperation in sectors such as defense, energy, artificial intelligence, and several other issues.
Tensions in Franco-German relations arose last year due to disputes over several key issues, including energy and defense.
Frictions escalated as Macron accused Germany of taking actions that contradicted the principle of European solidarity, especially in the realm of energy and defense.
This visit represents an opportunity for the two leaders to reset their relationship and strengthen cooperation in various fields to advance shared European goals.
