French President Emmanuel Macron will take part in Chadian President Idriss Deby's funeral, the spokesperson of the French Government Gabriel Attal announced on Wednesday.

Yesterday, Macron mourned Deby’s death in an official statement. “France lost a brave friend,” the French President described in the statement.

He added: “It expresses its strong attachment to Chad’s stability and territorial integrity.”

In addition, Macron asserted the necessity of a peaceful transition of power in the African state.

Deby died on Tuesday of his injuries in the fighting on the front line following clashes between the army and rebels at the border, hours after the preliminary results of the elections declared that he won a sixth term and won 79 percent of the votes, amid the escalation of violence in the central African country.
