French President Emmanuel Macron will partake at a Baghdad-hosted regional conference this month, the Iraqi presidency confirmed on Monday.

The statement highlighted that President Macron told Mostafa Kadhimi, the Iraqi prime minister, that France is a real partner for Iraq. Moreover, the French president showed his full support to Iraq. The upcoming visit will be the second of the French president in less than a year.

Various Iraq-neighbouring countries' leaders were invited to the conference such as Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Recently, Iraq started attaining its diplomatic presence in the region as it hosted Iranian and Saudi delegations to ease the tensions between both states.

In addition, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi headed to the United States of America, presiding a government delegation last month.

This visit comes within the framework of Iraq‘s efforts to consolidate the relationship with Washington, based on the foundations of mutual respect and bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that Al-Kadhimi headed to the United States on an official visit that will last for several days, “to discuss the Iraqi-American relations in various fields and bilateral issues of common interest.”
