Macron to Hold Call with Trump Ahead of Emergency European Summit on Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron will hold a phone call with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, ahead of the emergency European summit on Ukraine taking place in Paris, according to Élysée Palace.

According to France 24, several European leaders have already arrived at the Élysée Palace for the summit, which was convened by President Macron to discuss "European security" and the Ukraine crisis. 

Meanwhile, preparations are underway between Russia and the United States for negotiations aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier, Macron welcomed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and other leaders at the Élysée.

Notably, today’s summit brings together the German Chancellor and the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Denmark, in addition to the NATO Secretary-General, the President of the European Council, and the President of the European Commission.
