French President Emmanuel Macron apologized on Monday to Muslims for their angry reactions to the cartoons offensive to the Prophet Muhammad.
Macron was responding to a question about how the French government dealt with the re-publication of insulting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in a French Magazine during his press conference at the Elysee with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi
Macron called for a peaceful reaction to such cartoons, stressing his strong rejection of any acts of violence caused by a word or caricature.

"Some of those caricatures have offended you, and I'm sorry about that, but we must react to them peacefully," the French president stated.
He said freedom of the press is enshrined in French laws since the French Revolution.
"No president of any other entity has the right to tell a journalist or caricaturist what to write or draw," he said.
He added that these caricatures do not represent his country's message to Muslims, noting that they only express the views of the caricaturist who drew them.
