French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday that he maintains direct contacts with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
"I maintain regular discussions and direct contact with President Putin, because I think the best way to reengage is to maintain this direct [communication] channel," Macron said in an interview with the American channel "CBS".
"Isolation is the worst thing," Macron stressed.
