On Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that both Russia and Ukraine have committed to upholding the Minsk agreements.
“We have now the possibility of advancing negotiations,” Macron told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy during a news conference after the two had held talks in Kyiv.
In reaction to Russia's annexation of Crimea, the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany signed the Minsk agreements in 2014 and 2015.
One of them is to put an end to the separatist struggle waged by Russian-speaking people in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region.
Russia has amassed tens of thousands of troops along Ukraine's border but has rejected ambitions to attack the country.
