French President Emmanuel Macron and Jordan's King Abdullah II reiterated on Monday, the necessity of reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

They affirmed their support for the comprehensive peace plan proposed by U.S. President Joe Biden and emphasized the need for its implementation without further delay.

This came during the French president's reception of King Abdullah II of Jordan at the Élysée Palace, following their meeting in Paris last February and after meetings with the Arab League's contact group and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, according to a statement from the French presidency.

During a working lunch at the Élysée Palace, Macron welcomed the success of the humanitarian conference for Gaza, organized at Jordan's initiative on June 11, as well as Jordan's efforts to establish a humanitarian corridor from Jordan to Gaza, which France supported.

In this context, the two leaders called for the lifting of all restrictions imposed on various crossings, which hinder the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza.

Macron and King Abdullah II also reiterated their call for the release of all hostages, including two French citizens, and expressed their deep concern about the situation in the West Bank. They also strongly condemned the acts of violence committed by settlers.
