Macron Hails Egypt's Gaza Ceasefire Efforts, Backs Two-State Solution

​French President Emmanuel Macron, congratulated Egypt on Monday on the "real progress and decisive step" following the signing of an agreement regarding Gaza. 

He also called for the Palestinian Authority to be given its place, as the opportunity for a two-state solution must be preserved in the Gaza Strip.

​Moreover, Macron stressed the necessity of mobilizing funding for the reconstruction of the area and increasing the pace in the coming days, with the daily dispatch of dozens of aid trucks.

​He added that the role of the Americans is essential, and welcomed the participation of Donald Trump in the signing of this agreement.

​Upon his arrival in Sharm El Sheikh to participate in the Peace Summit, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, also said: "We value Egypt's role in establishing peace and stability in the region."

​Macron added: "France supports dialogue to promote peace in the region... We focus on the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state."
