French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Mauritius, South Africa, Gabon, and Angola from 20 to 24 November, aligning the tour with the G20 summit and the EU–African Union summit.

The trip aims to deepen bilateral partnerships and advance French strategic and economic interests across Africa.

In Mauritius, Macron will reinforce cooperation near the French territory of La Réunion, including joint military exercises addressing maritime smuggling, illegal fishing, and irregular migration. In South Africa, he will meet President Cyril Ramaphosa, attend the launch of the French–South African Business Council, and visit Pretoria’s Freedom Park.

Macron’s Gabon visit will highlight support for the country’s transitional government under President Brice Oligui Ngouma, while strengthening ties with French companies such as Eramet and Suez.

The tour concludes in Angola for the EU–African Union summit, signalling France’s strategic repositioning on the continent.

Since 2017, Macron has conducted around 40 official visits to 26 African nations, shifting French engagement from direct security roles toward transactional partnerships in economic, climate, and maritime sectors.

The tour also reflects France’s commitment to historical reconciliation, including acknowledging colonial legacies and repatriating African cultural assets.
