French President Emmanuel Macron urged all parties involved in the Lebanon ceasefire agreement to honor their commitments "as soon as possible," as Lebanon accuses Israel of "delaying" its withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
The Élysée Palace stated, "The President of the Republic (Macron) reiterated that the commitments made by all parties must be fulfilled promptly so that Lebanon can regain full sovereignty over its territories. The President also reaffirmed France's unwavering commitment in this regard."
Macron also welcomed "the progress made over the past two months, particularly due to the ongoing engagement of the Lebanese Armed Forces in implementing the conditions for the ceasefire," according to the Élysée statement.
The Lebanese Presidency issued a statement noting that President Joseph Aoun "received a call from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed developments in the south, efforts to de-escalate tensions, and finding appropriate solutions to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the measures required to defuse the situation."
