The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) at the Embassy of India in Cairo is organizing a cycle rally as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) celebrations on 25 March 2022.
The rally would be flagged off by the Ambassador of India to Egypt, Ajit Gupte, at 9 a.m. from the Embassy of India in Cairo located at 5 Aziz Abaza Street, Zamalek.
The route of the proposed cycle rally would cover the periphery of Zamalek Island. The event intends to spread the message of adopting a healthy lifestyle and the importance of exercise in daily life. The event is expected to attract the participation of about 100 cyclists from the Embassy of India in Cairo and cycling clubs.
The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements. The festival started on 12th March 2021 with a 75-week countdown to the 75th anniversary of India’s independence on 15th August 2022 and will end year later on 15th August 2023.
The festival is being celebrated by India and its diplomatic missions with the active participation of the Indian diaspora and friends of India all over the world.
