The Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said on Saturday that Taxes represent 75 percent of the state's revenues, adding that every pending tax is borrowed from external sources with compounding interest.

This came during a meeting between Maait and several officials and employees of the Tax Authority.

The Minister declared his full support for the employees of the Tax Authority, who are performing a national mission to obtain the right of the state, which will help in accomplishing the aspirations of Egyptians toward development.

The state taxes, which represents 75 percent of the state’s revenues, are spend on Egypt's security, health, education, wages, pensions, as well as the payment of internal and external obligations.

"Do not cover up corruption, and never cooperate with dishonest people. No one is above the law or accountability, and we will not allow anyone to harm out honesty, integrity and national responsibility," noted the Minister of Finance.

"The Tax Authority will soon witness new structural reforms and arrangements by pumping new and inspiring young leaders," he added.

Also, a number of measures will be taken to ensure the strengthening of financial and administrative governance in the Egyptian Tax Authority in a manner that prevents anyone from slipping into the corruption.

The Minister pointed out that some unacceptable inpidual actions should not shake the confidence of other honorable colleges as long as they continue to perform their duties to the fullest extent of sincerity and honesty.

The developments that occurred recently in the authority should be a strong incentive to complete the reform process and digital transformation.

He also reviewed during the meeting some projects for developing the tax administration system and its mechanization, stressing the need to raise the efficiency of workers through continuous training.

It is noteworthy that the Administrative Control Authority announced the details of the arrest of the head of the Egyptian Tax Authority Abdel-Azim Hussein on charges of taking bribes from one of the clients.
