Maait, Gentiloni Discuss Enhancing Cooperation between Egypt, EU

Mohamed Maait, the Egyptian Minister of Finance held a bilateral meeting with Paolo Gentiloni, European Union Commissioner for Economy to discuss ways to develop economic relations between Egypt and the EU during the coming period, and to enhance cooperation in various fields.

This came on the sidelines of their participation in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Marrakesh

The minister of finance confirmed that there are broad prospects for local and foreign investments in Egypt, in a way that encourages the EU to pump more investment flows during the coming period in Egypt, especially in light of the advanced infrastructure that is capable of meeting the needs of investment activities, as well as  tax and customs incentives that provide an attractive business environment for the private sector.

The minister added that we are keen to deepen cooperation in various fields between Egypt and the EU to achieve economic recovery and green transformation, which contributes to supporting comprehensive and sustainable development goals (SDGs).

He pointed out that Egypt and the European Union are among the most important trading partners, and a customs twinning project was signed with the European Union  to enhance the development of customs mechanisms to keep pace with the changes taking place in global trade, improve competitiveness, and ensure the access of goods and services to the relevant markets, in accordance with World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations and the partnership agreement between the EU and Egypt.
