A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off the coast of southern Philippines on Monday, just one week after a stronger quake in the same region killed at least 65 people.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake hit off Mindanao Island at a depth of 112 kilometers. Philippine authorities said no tsunami warning was issued.
Local disaster officials reported no immediate casualties or significant damage, although coastal areas remained under observation as a precaution.
The latest tremor follows a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Mindanao on June 8, triggering building collapses, landslides, and mass displacement. Authorities say at least 65 people were killed and 36 remain missing.
The Philippines is located on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," one of the world's most active seismic zones, and experiences frequent earthquakes due to intense tectonic activity.
