A 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Iran early on Sunday, with authorities reporting no casualties or material damage.

The tremor hit Bardsir County in Kerman Province at 3:46 a.m. local time, according to Iran's Seismological Center. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers and was centered around 62 kilometers from the city of Kerman.

Gholam Reza Nejad Khaleghi, Director General of Crisis Management in Kerman Province, said emergency assessment teams were dispatched immediately after the quake. Field inspections found no reports of injuries or damage.

Iran is frequently affected by earthquakes due to its location along several active seismic fault lines. The latest tremor follows a 4.6-magnitude earthquake that struck areas near Tehran in May, which also caused no significant damage.
