In the framework of the Cooperation on Migration Governance (CONMIGO) project, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) in partnership with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM), organized a three-day workshop in Luxor, with the aim of building capacities for combating trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants.
The workshop took place between the 5th and 7th of March and was attended by twenty-four staff members of the NCCM. It covered several topics, including the standard operating procedures for protection and assistance of child asylum seekers, refugees and victims of trafficking and smuggling, the roles and responsibilities of child protection committees in addressing illegal migration, practical case studies on migration paths management, and the challenges of the protection of child migrants.
Certificates were distributed at the closing ceremony by Ms. Mónica González, Programme Manager of the Spanish Cooperation office in Cairo, as well as Mr. Khaled Elnakkady, Head of the Migration and Anti-Smuggling Unit at the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons and Dr. Naser Musalam, Director General of Development and Gender at the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood.
The CONMIGO project is dedicated to improving migration governance in Egypt. The Spanish Cooperation has been honored to work very closely with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking to build the capacities of all involved stakeholders to make migration a driving force of development. The project’s trainings have covered all dimensions of migration governance in a comprehensive manner in line with the objectives of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
