Three months ago, I visited Luxor on a humanitarian assistance mission with a team from Mustafa Amin Charitable foundation…The distinct appearance of stagecoach and it's driver who wore a special costume caught my attention.
I seized the chance and asked the driver about this unique costume and he told me that this custom and the logo printed on it reflect the new identity of the international city of Luxor to grab the attention of the whole world.
On Wednesday, I visited Luxor again at the invitation of Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo (GUC). He wrote on the invitation..."The goal is Luxor's secret".
I was surprised by the obvious increase in hotel occupancy rates that reached 85%, as well as the tourist temples that are witnessing unprecedented turnout after years of deprivation and tourism stagnation.
I felt proud and happy when I realize that three young girls named Yasmine Wali, Ghada Wali, and Sara Ashraf Mansour were the key persons behind the return of the spirit to Luxor.
During the national youth conference in 2018, they presented Luxor visual identity idea, which has been adopted by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and upon his directives; the Armed forces Engineering Authority began to turn the girl's dream into reality.
The proposal of GUC's students has become a popular idea believed by all Luxor citizens starting from the stagecoach’s driver to the governor, and traders.
This remarkable idea raises the awareness of the citizens about the significance of their city and the importance to highlight its beauty and splendor.
This is the secret of Luxor and the secret of success everywhere…a dream turned into an idea then to a concrete reality witnessed in the streets, temples, the Nile, boats, the Cornish, and in everything as well.
Moreover, Mostafa Alham, Luxor governor affirmed that the winter season has not begun yet, noting that, there are bookings till 2020. He added that last year, the price of the room in five-star hotels was EGP 500 per night, while this year it has reached EGP 4,000.
Most importantly, the elimination of unemployment, which has become less, due to the high turnout of foreign tourist delegations to Luxor which considered the largest open-air museum in the whole world.
Dr. Mansour was very happy and so proud of this creative idea by GUCians... President El Sisi believed in the idea and assigned the University to develop a visual identity for all Egypt’s governorates, to be implemented by a sincere national body working around the clock tirelessly with all love and enthusiasm.
