The Lusaka Sub-Court decided to release the five Egyptians detained in Zambia, according to what was published by the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation.

The local court released, Friday, five Egyptians and one Zambian citizen, after prosecutors dropped espionage charges against them, three weeks after they arrived on a private plane, loaded with weapons, bullets, money, and later counterfeit gold was found.

Meanwhile, the Drug Enforcement Agency explained that two Egyptians would be re-arrested on less serious charges that it did not specify, and that they would be released on bail.

A judge said five other Zambian nationals who were not released would be tried in the High Court on charges of entering a restricted area of the airport.

About 3 weeks ago, the authorities in Zambia arrested the five Egyptians, in addition to six local citizens, who they accused of spying for entering a restricted area at Lusaka Airport, after they seized weapons, bullets, liquid money, and counterfeit gold on board a plane they boarded.
